  • Maintenance of plants, piping systems and probes from OMV Austria Exploration & Production GmbH
  • Contract term of eight years
  • Comprehensive services from a single source increase quality and efficiency

OMV Austria Exploration & Production GmbH has signed a framework agreement with Bilfinger for comprehensive maintenance services. The contract runs for a period of eight years and covers all facilities, field piping systems and probes belonging to OMV's Austrian oil and gas production subsidiary. The services Bilfinger will deliver include predictive maintenance and repair, smaller steel construction activities, pipeline assembly, pipeline construction and EI&C (electrical, instrumentation and control technology) activities, warehousing, engineering and documentation services as well as smaller projects. The order will be booked in the Engineering & Maintenance Europe segment.

'The OMV contract is a key milestone for us as we continue to expand our business in Austria,' says Christina Johansson, Bilfinger's interim CEO and CFO. 'Bundling our activities in a single company has made us the largest industrial services provider in Austria since 2020 and means we can deliver a comprehensive range of services to our customers from a single source. This significantly reduces the coordination effort for our customers and at the same time contributes to a high quality of service delivery.'

The services will be provided by Bilfinger Industrial Services GmbH in Austria. Scaffolding and insulation work will be supported by Bilfinger arnholdt GmbH. A total of around 80 Bilfinger employees will be active at OMV Austria Exploration & Production GmbH sites, the majority of which are located in Lower Austria.

Bilfinger provides services there for all relevant and conventional above-ground trades in the oil & gas sector. These include mechanical, piping systems, EI&C, rotating equipment, valves, insulation, scaffolding, corrosion protection and other maintenance and project services. The contract started in mid-August 2021. A three-month mobilization phase is currently underway, during which the necessary preparations are carried out, thus ensuring that all contract services can be assumed in full from mid-November.

Bilfinger has worked for OMV Group companies in the past, including in the area of EI&C as well as turbines and compressors. The Bilfinger Maintenance Concept, which helps to increase the reliability of the plants while at the same time optimizing maintenance costs, will be applied in the new contract. Bilfinger also makes use of digital processes for this purpose, including the entry of orders directly on site at the plant using a mobile device.
