Even in the midst of the heatwave in the UK, there are growing concerns about what a fresh wave of Covid-19 could do to an overburdened healthcare system. Currently, anyone over the age of 50 or with a severely weakened immune system are eligible for a fourth booster dose.

At the same time, BioNTech and Pfizer are starting a clinical trial to adapt their current vaccine to the latest variants of Omicron. BioNTech has been manufacturing doses of its first

Omicron-specific vaccine since spring and will be ready to roll them out once regulators give the green light.

But there is little push from the UK government or the Department of Health to remind people to get another booster jab if they are eligible.

We've heard little about the virus since testing was scrapped, but we should be prepared for renewed campaigns for Brits to get both their flu and Covid-19 vaccine before the winter hits.
