Renato Sturani, current Head of Renewables & Efficiency, will take over the Hydroelectric Power Plants division from 1 June, thus becoming responsible for BKW's most significant renewable energy production unit. In taking on his new role, he will leave the Group Executive Board and report to Hermann Ineichen, Head of Production and Group Executive Board member.
Hydroelectric power is facing particular economic challenges, from both the planned full deregulation of the electricity market and the complete integration of Swiss energy production into the European market. By consistently aligning BKW's international wind and heat businesses with the new market conditions, Sturani has created substantial revenue for BKW. He will now dedicate himself to the task of preparing BKW's hydroelectric production for the future. Over the past few years, the previous Head of Hydroelectric Power Plants, Andreas Stettler, has laid the initial groundwork for an efficient hydroelectric business at BKW. He will continue to apply his outstanding expertise in his new role within the Production division.
