BlueScope Steel Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding with Royal Dutch Shell PLC to develop hydrogen projects at its Port Kembla steelworks in Australia's New South Wales state.

BlueScope said Tuesday that the agreement comprises two projects: A pilot-scale renewable hydrogen electrolyzer and a hydrogen-supply infrastructure hub.

"Collaborations such as these are fundamental to accelerating progress towards a net-zero emissions future," Shell Australia Chairman Tony Nunan said in a statement.
