BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - At a car summit in the Chancellery, the German government and industry have sought to join forces in the expansion of electromobility. Following the meeting in the Chancellery on Monday, the Federal Government spokesperson announced: "All participants agreed that with a view to the ramp-up of electromobility, but also the digital transformation, a successful future of automotive value creation in Germany can only be achieved together."

The discussion focused on the question of how the target of 15 million fully electric cars by 2030 in Germany could be achieved and how the spread of fully electric cars could be strengthened in the long term. Fully electric cars could make a significant contribution to reducing emissions and decarbonizing the transport sector.

The participants in the round table agreed that the acquisition costs of electric cars must be reduced in order to achieve the target of 15 million electric cars, said the speaker. The range of models must also be increased.

Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) welcomed the automotive industry's clear commitment to investing in charging infrastructure itself - this had been reaffirmed at the Autogipfel. The transformation can only succeed together, he said./hoe/DP/nas
