BERLIN/STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - The "mobility summit" planned by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) for next week will not live up to its name in the view of the Pro-Rail Alliance. "A federal government that invites to the "mobility summit" and talks exclusively about e-cars is engaging in labeling fraud," announced association managing director Dirk Flege on Thursday. Mobility is more than automobility, he said. "Without more rail, bus and bicycle traffic, there is no traffic turnaround and no mobility for all."

The "Spiegel" and the "Handelsblatt" had previously reported on the planned top-level meeting. According to the report, topics include climate protection and electrification, autonomous driving and the resilience of supply chains.

According to the media reports, the heads of VW and BMW - Oliver Blume and Oliver Zipse - will also take part in the meeting. They would be joined by representatives of suppliers and IG Metall head Jörg Hofmann. Several federal ministers are also expected to attend. The talks are not dubbed a "car summit," as former Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) had regularly held them. It was officially a "first top-level meeting of the strategy platform of the automotive and mobility industry."/maa/DP/ngu
