BOBST Team Remotely Installs EXPERT K5 for Polibak

Due to the Covid restrictions in the UK, it wasn't possible for engineers to travel from the UK to Turkey to install Polibak's new EXPERT K5 2450.

Not knowing when the restrictions would be lifted, an alternative solution had to be found resulting in the first ever remotely installed BOBST metallizer.

Having had their first BOBST EXPERT K5 installed previously, the Polibak team had knowledge of the process and the BOBST team knowing how competent the Polibak team is were confident they could do it with online guidance from the BOBST engineers. Using a combination of Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp and Smart Glasses two BOBST engineers made themselves available from 6:00am to 4:00pm every day for two weeks; with a daily meeting to discuss that day's work schedule, they then ensured they were on hand to help Polibak throughout the entire process, being on demand for any questions and to give advice.

The installation was a complete success due to the teamwork between BOBST and Polibak and was finished in 12 days. When it was time for the machine to be commissioned, it still wasn't possible for any engineers from the UK to travel so a BOBST Commissioning Service Engineer based in Cambodia travelled to Turkey.
