The power purchase agreement (PPA) covers a period of 15 years from the completion of the wind farms, and a significant share of their output, equating to some 2-3 terawatt hours (TWh) of annual production, Agder Energi CEO Steffen Syvertsen told Reuters.

Separately, Agder Energi has signed an agreement with Swedish miner Boliden to provide its mining and smelter operations in Sweden and Finland with a combination of output from the wind farms and hydropower.

"Thanks to this agreement we ensure competitive power supply to many of Boliden's production units. This is especially important, as our operations will be increasingly electrified and fossil free in the coming years," Mats Gustavsson, Energy Director at Boliden said in a statement.

Boliden has set a 2030 goal to reduce the carbon dioxide intensity of its products by 40% compared to 2012.

Luxcara is currently building the 753-MW Oenusberget wind farm in northern Sweden and three wind farms with a total projected capacity of 160 MW in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland, scheduled to start power production this year.
