MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - The new billion-euro deal for TV rights is seen by the Bundesliga as a seal of approval for German soccer. "The result of the tender is an excellent success, especially in the current market situation and in comparison to other deals in Europe. It provides planning security and underlines the league's appeal," said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen when asked by dpa.

"For us, as one of the league's top clubs and driving force, it is particularly important that the level has not only been maintained, but even exceeded on average - this is the only way we can continue to hold our own in international competition. For the fans, it means that they can continue to watch the matches on the channels and platforms of the established TV partners," said Dreesen.

A total of 4.484 billion euros

With the sale of the national TV rights for the 2025/26 to 2028/29 seasons, the German Football League will receive a total of EUR 4.484 billion. This is an increase of 84 million euros compared to the currently valid contracts.

"We see the tender result as a success for the league. With their full stadiums, attractive teams and exciting matches, the Bundesliga 1 and 2 continue to be very popular with viewers and broadcasters alike," said Johann Plenge, Managing Director of RB Leipzig. The result is "a success for the league and all clubs - and also an incentive to make our Bundesliga accessible to a broad international audience with appropriate partners."

"Enormous importance of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2"

Michael Stroll from FC Augsburg also saw the result as a success. "The fact that an increase of two percent could be achieved despite the challenges on the market and around the allocation process reflects the enormous importance of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2," said the FCA managing director.

There were also words of praise from VfL Bochum. In view of the difficult market situation, the increase in revenue "cannot be taken for granted, as a look at other European leagues, which will have to accept significant losses in the coming years, shows. The DFL's TV revenues are the only ones to have grown," the club said./kun/DP/ngu
