Bouygues Telecom opens its 5G network in Nantes

and in its surrounding area

Paris, 13 April 2021 - The Municipality of Nantes has just released the conclusions of its community consultation. Following this outreach and dialogue exercise with locally elected representatives, Bouygues Telecom is able to announce the opening of its 5G network* as of Wednesday 14 April in Nantes and in its surrounding municipalities1. As a result, four out of five people living in Nantes will be able to enjoy the quality of Bouygues Telecom's 5G network from tomorrow.

"Nantes is a special place for Bouygues Telecom because we opened our first regional customer relations centre there back in 1999. We are therefore delighted that our 5G network will be available from this Wednesday, meaning that the 650,000 people living in Nantes and the surrounding area, including the many businesses there, will be able to use this technology without further ado," said Benoît Torloting, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Bouygues Telecom. "The strength of the dialogue that we have had with Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes, and with her municipal councillors in the last few months meant that we were able to make confident progress and take everyone's opinions into account. Our people will continue to work very closely with local authority teams on the drafting of a charter for the roll-out of mobile infrastructure."

On the back of a network that is already operating in 28 large municipalities with over 100,000 inhabitants 2 and in over 1,300 smaller ones throughout mainland France, Bouygues Telecom once again confirms its target of covering the whole country with 5G before the end of this year.
