BUTANTA, Brazil (AP) _ Braskem SA (BAK) on Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $456.3 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Butanta, Brazil-based company said it had net income of $1.15 per share.

The petrochemical company posted revenue of $4.15 billion in the period.

Braskem shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
