The team at wealth manager Brewin Dolphin's Bristol office were not going to let the national lockdowns deter them from raising funds for their chosen charity of the year, Dorothy House Hospice.

The team undertook two virtual challenges, one in October 2020 and one in March 2021, to notch up the miles through their individual walks, runs, bike rides and even by rowing. Collectively, they covered 2,296 miles and raised an impressive £4,810 for Dorothy House Hospice. They plan to raise a total of £8,595 over the course of the year - the amount needed to run the hospice for a day.

The hospice provides quality end of life care to people in Bath, North East Somerset and Wiltshire. It holds special significance, in particular, for one employee in Brewin Dolphin's Bristol office. Administrator Rosy Easom lost her mum during the first UK-wide Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020. She said: 'In the final weeks of my mum's life she was desperate that her last days would be at home, and Dorothy House helped to make that wish a reality. Respecting mum's wishes meant round-the-clock care, and they offered a lifeline of support and night care services, which allowed myself and my sisters to get some much-needed rest knowing that mum was safe and cared for.

Rosy added: 'Grieving during lockdown has been an unthinkable experience and supporting Dorothy House has allowed me an outlet to feel like there is some good coming out of the pain of losing my mum.'

Tom Miller, head of office, Brewin Dolphin (Bristol) said: 'I'm thrilled that we're able to support a fantastic charity like Dorothy House and, in a small way, say thank you for the help and care that they showed one of our team in her time of need.'
