(Alliance News) - Bridgepoint Group PLC on Monday confirmed that it is evaluating a number of potential acquisition opportunities, following a Bloomberg report that the company is looking to acquire Energy Capital Partners LLC.

The London-based private investment company said that all discussions, including with Energy Capital Partners, remain at "an early stage."

Bridgepoint stated that there is no certainty that any transaction will result.

Bloomberg, citing people with knowledge of the matter, on Monday reported Bridgepoint is looking to buy ECP for USD1 billion in cash and stock. ECP has roughly USD14.4 billion under management. It is a New Jersey-based investor in energy transition and infrastructure assets.

Over the weekend, Sky News reported Bridgepoint approached the England & Wales Cricket Board with a GBP400 million offer to acquire a 75% stake in The Hundred franchise. The 100-ball format competition was launch in summer 2021 and the second edition took place earlier this year,

Bridgepoint hares closed down 2.1% at 205.16 pence each on Monday in London.
