Bridgestone Corporation (TSE:5108) is seeking acquisitions in the solutions and tire recycling business fields, Chief Executive Officer Shuichi Ishibashi has said in a recent interview. The company plans to acquire a solutions startup in the United States, in order to expand its service of providing data related to truck and other operations in North America. The company has already narrowed down its acquisition target to several firms. "We'll reach a conclusion within this year," Ishibashi said. Bridgestone, whose mainstay business is tire production, is also aiming to buy a startup with technology related to the recycling of tires. "We hope to start concrete commercial operations (in the tire recycling business) in 2024, however small they are," the CEO said. The possible investments are expected to be made in Europe and the United States, where demand is high.
