THE Broncos have had a great run in defence the past six weeks but now face the one team that bucked that trend.

Brisbane have been clicking in attack and miserly in defence since their round 18 bye.

In that time the Broncos have won five of six matches, averaging 34 points a game, while only letting in 14.

The one result in that block that went against the grain was the 28-14 loss to the Eels four weeks ago.

At Suncorp Stadium tomorrow night the Broncos get the chance to show that they have truly improved.

'There is no secret to the fact that defence wins games,' said Josh McGuire this week.

'We needed to be better (than that Eels match).

'Our attitude to defence has been better the last three weeks.

'But then again we know we have tough opposition this week and we know we have to be on our game coming up against them.

'They have a lot of points in them.'

McGuire said the forwards had taken ownership of their jobs in the team as they aim to nail down a top-four spot with a win in the final home game of the preliminary rounds.

A top-two finish and two home games in the finals is still achievable.

'The good thing now is everyone is really enthusiastic in owning their job,' he said.

'We enjoy being at home, we play at the best stadium in the world.

'Hopefully this isn't our last game at home.'
