DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Brown & Brown Inc. (BRO) on Monday reported third-quarter earnings of $134 million.

The Daytona Beach, Florida-based company said it had profit of 47 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 52 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.

The insurance company posted revenue of $674 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $642.9 million.

Brown & Brown shares have climbed 18% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $46.59, an increase of 26% in the last 12 months.
