DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Brown & Brown Inc. (BRO) on Monday reported third-quarter profit of $146.4 million.

The Daytona Beach, Florida-based company said it had net income of 52 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 58 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 52 cents per share.

The insurance company posted revenue of $770.3 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $760.6 million.

Brown & Brown shares have climbed 40% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $66.46, a climb of 42% in the last 12 months.
