BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) _ Bruker Corp. (BRKR) on Wednesday reported first-quarter profit of $61.6 million.

The Billerica, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 41 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 49 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.

The scientific equipment maker posted revenue of $595 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $572.7 million.

Bruker expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.29 to $2.33 per share.

Bruker shares have decreased 28% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 12% in the last 12 months.
