Sphera Franchise Group (SFG), the biggest group in the foodservice industry in Romania, celebrates today, 9 November, 5 years since its listing on the Regulated Market of Bucharest Stock Exchange. Capitalisation of Sphera Franchise Group on 8 November 2022 was 494 million RON.

Sphera Franchise Group was listed on the Regulated Market of Bucharest Stock Exchange under the SFG ticker, on 9 November 2017, based on a 285 million RON offer. The group, holder of the companies operating under the franchise system, the KFC, Pizza Hut & Pizza Hut Delivery and Taco Bell restaurants, thus became the first foodservice operator to be listed on the stock exchange. Since its listing, Sphera recorded a complex evolution on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Since its debut on the Stock Exchange, the investors on the capital market made more than 32,000 transactions with 22.5 million SFG shares, worth 444.8 million RON.

Since 2018, Sphera entered the BET and BET-TR reference indices, the latter an index that also includes the dividends granted by the BET companies. The company shares are also present on BET-BK,BET-TRN,BET-XT,BET-XT-TR,BET-XT-TRN and BETPlus. This year, the Sphera Franchise Group shares have been included into the FTSE Russell indices for Emergent Markets, FTSE Global Micro Cap. Also, as of 2021, the company has benefited from the Issuer Market Marker services provided by BRK Financial Group.

The group operates restaurants in Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Italy, with a portfolio of 175 units in the three countries, and more than 5,200 employees. The first unit was opened in 1994, under the Pizza Hut brand, at the time the first Romanian restaurant of a global chain. This year, KFC celebrated 25 years since it penetrated the local market and recently opened its 95th location. This has also been an anniversary year for Taco Bell, a restaurant chain with Mexican inspired products, celebrating 5 years since its first location in Romania.

Sphera will continue its development strategy, aiming to open new restaurants and to invest in the modernisation of existing ones. At the moment, about 10 restaurants in various stages of development, across all brands, will be opened by the end of 2023 in Romania and Italy. In regard to investments, the budget for 2022 includes, apart from the 15.5 million EUR for openings, a further 4.5 million EUR for digitisation and remodelling, so that all the restaurants should meet the most recent design standards of the franchiser.
