BW Energy (Norway) says it will conduct a 3D seismic survey of the Kudu natural gas field offshore Namibia in order to identify additional exploration targets and attract a new investment partner.

The Oslo-listed firm revealed in a statement on December 2 that it had signed a contract on the collection of 4,600 square km of 3D seismic data from Production Licence 3, an offshore block that includes the Greater Kudu area. It did not identify the company that it had contracted for this purpose, but it did say that the available information justified this level of scrutiny.

The 3D data collected in the new study will “further enhance the depositional model” in the Kudu licence area, the statement said. The company will also use the results to identify new potential exploration targets and possibly to support future discussions on farm-in deals and on front-end engineering and design (FEED) work, it added.
