On a per-share basis, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said it had net income of $1.74.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.85 per share.
The trucking company posted revenue of $6.5 billion in the period, topping Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.19 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $844.2 million, or $6.31 per share. Revenue was reported as $23.1 billion.
