If you plan on taking advantage of the crisp, Autumn weather this season, read on to discover a handful of fun, outdoor activities to add to your fall bucket list, in and around Charlotte.
Enjoy Mecktoberfest at Old Mecklenburg Brewery - September 17th to 19th and September 24th to 26th
Charlotte's oldest brewery is once again hosting their annual 'Mecktoberfest.' OMB's drink menu features traditional German beer (such as their Hornet's Nest Hefeweizen) served in 1-liter glass boots, along with hard ciders and seltzers. Guests can also sample classic Oktoberfest fare like bratwurst and giant soft pretzels, all while listening to live renditions of traditional Oktoberfest music. As an added bonus, this is a pet-friendly event. Prost!
Take a Hayride at Hodge's Family Farm - Pumpkin patch open from September 25th to October 31st (9 am-6 pm daily)
Nothing says 'fall' like bouncing up and down on a bale of hay while riding on a trailer through a pumpkin patch. At Hodge's Family Farm (located in Charlotte) you can do just that! Hodge's has several family-friendly activities such as a climbable hay mountain and various barnyard animals to interact with. While you're there, grab a couple of pumpkins of varying shapes and sizes to take home with you to decorate your Camden apartment for the fall season.

Watch a Movie Under The Stars at Brewers at 4001 Yancey - Tuesdays at dusk, from now through December 21st
Do you consider yourself a movie buff? If so, grab a group of friends and head over to Brewers at 4001 Yancey, Tuesdays this fall. You can catch classic movies like, Dirty Dancing, Jurassic Park, and even Hocus Pocus. While you're there, be sure to try Southern Tier's seasonal beer, Pumpking, which is basically pumpkin pie in a pint glass. Best of all, Brewers at 4001 Yancey is located only minutes away from vibrant Camden South End in LoSo!
Hike at Crowders Mountain - Open Daily
Whether you are a hiking novice or an aficionado, there are trails for hikers of all skill levels at Crowders Mountain State Park. Located only a 40-minute drive from Camden Ballantyne or Camden Stonecrest, this is an easy way to get out in nature nearby. Spectators will enjoy the colorful foliage of fall during their ascent up the mountain. Get the full fall experience by packing a picnic lunch (such as a sandwich and tomato soup in a thermos) to eat while you take in the scenic view, once you reach the pinnacle. Happy trails!
Pick Apples at Windy Hill Orchard - Open daily while quantities last (late September/early October)
Not to be outdone by the ubiquitous pumpkin, apples are an equally quintessential part of fall. Apple cider, apple pie, caramel apples… the list goes on and on. Make an excursion south of Charlotte to Fort Mill, South Carolina to enjoy apple-picking at Windy Hill Orchard! This is a great activity for all ages and would also make a great date spot. Reservations are required for apple picking, so be sure to plan your visit ahead of time.
