CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (CNQ) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $574.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had profit of 48 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 12 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 4 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas company posted revenue of $4 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $3.85 billion.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $324.7 million, or 28 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $12.61 billion.

Canadian Natural Resources shares have climbed 25% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 17% in the last 12 months.
