Carrefour confirmed its outlook for 2024 on Wednesday, saying it was confident about the second half of the year, after reporting a rise in operating profit from ordinary activities (ROC) in the first half, driven by Brazil and France.

"In a contrasting economic context, Carrefour is performing very well in its two key countries," said Alexandre Bompard, the group's chairman and CEO, in a statement.

Profit from recurring operations for Europe's largest food retailer rose by 6.2% to 743 million euros between January and June, on sales of 44.86 billion euros, representing like-for-like growth of 12.1%.
