RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) _ Casella Waste Systems Inc. (CWST) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $9.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Rutland, Vermont-based company said it had net income of 18 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 21 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 18 cents per share.

The provider of garbage-disposal and recycling services posted revenue of $241.8 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $230.9 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $41.1 million, or 80 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $889.2 million.

Casella expects full-year revenue in the range of $980 million to $995 million.
