"La Chismería", a new leisure and dining experience, has arrived at Vallsur. The launch comes after a major renovation of the building's ground floor, carried out over the past year. Its creation was overseen by Castellana Properties, a listed company specialising in the retail sector and owner of the Valladolid shopping centre. It marks the culmination of the first phase of the refurbishment project, intended to bolster Vallsur's position as the region's leading retail hub.

An official launch event was held at the shopping centre, attended by Jesús Julio Carnero, Mayor of Valladolid, Víctor Martín Meléndez, Councillor for Business, Markets and Consumer Affairs at Valladolid City Council, José Ignacio Zarandona Fernández, Councillor for Housing and Urban Planning, Julio García, Director of Operations at Castellana Properties, and Pablo Pérez, Vallsur's General Manager. Attendees were treated to a preview of the new leisure and entertainment zone, to be known as "La Chismería".

In his speech, Carnero stressed Vallsur's "concerted efforts to develop new spaces and attractions," which will "create additional jobs and a broader service offer for an even better visitor experience. These improvements will spark an exciting new chapter for the centre, after 25 years at the forefront of Valladolid's retail scene."

La Chismería offers more than 2,000 sqm of F&B choices, mainly in a food court format, from brands including VIPS, Pomodoro, Pepe Taco, Juancho's Reyna Istanbul, Santa Gloria and Urban Poke. The renovation project will also deliver over 2,500 sqm of family-friendly entertainment. The arrival of Ozone Bowling, a leading specialist in bowling alleys and arcade machines, is highly anticipated, as is a new children's play area located in the main concourse and spanning all three floors of the centre. The children's play area is expected to open very shortly.

Julio García, COO of Castellana Properties, remarked: "The renovations at Vallsur reflect our confidence in the potential of this wonderful region, and our determination that the centre should continue to play a key role in shaping Valladolid's future. We want the people of Valladolid to enjoy Vallsur in all its glory, starting with the three-day launch event."

To celebrate this milestone, the entire city is invited to take part in a packed programme of events between Friday 1 and Sunday 3 December. There will be music from DJs including Miss Deep IN and Jorge Tejedor, a live appearance by singer-songwriter Henry Méndez and a show staged by Pablo Mèndez. Visitors will also have the chance to witness a Guiness World Record attempt and win hundreds of prizes to be given out over the three days.

"It is now 25 years since Vallsur first opened its doors. Since that day, we have never ceased to evolve in step with the people of Valladolid. Children who grew up with us now bring children of their own. Thanks to Castellana Properties' commitment to Vallsur and our region, we can continue in our mission to strengthen our ties to the city, confirming our position as Valladolid's number-one shopping centre for families and a place that brings people together." These were the words of Pablo Pérez, Vallsur's general manager, at a press conference to announce the launch.

As part of this repositioning strategy, Castellana Properties, owner of Vallsur Shopping Centre, expects to invest a total of €16.7 million in transforming the building's ground floor. The company has already embarked on the second phase of the project, which focuses on the other half of this level - home to an array of fashion brands. Its new look will be unveiled towards the end of 2024.
