• The Company's shopping centres dedicate approximately 7-10% of their annual marketing budget to creating and rolling out different ESG initiatives.

• The most recent project, the Date al Play campaign aimed at promoting physical activity and combatting sedentary lifestyles, saw over 2,000 people take part across seven cities.

Castellana Properties, a listed company specialising in the retail sector, remains fully on track to deliver on its ESG strategic plan that sets out the roadmap for the company until 2025.

The Company ended 2022 with almost one hundred ESG initiatives undertaken across its shopping centres and the Granaíta retail park, in line with its commitment to CSR, sustainability and environmental issues.

The most recent initiative is the Date al Play campaign which is aimed at promoting physical activity and combatting sedentary lifestyles, and which managed to draw over 2,000 people into the Company's shopping centres across seven cities to take part. As part of another initiative launched to cut energy consumption, the Christmas lights switch-on was pushed back three weeks across the entire portfolio, echoing a similar initiative from earlier in the year on 26 March, when energy consumption was reduced to an absolute minimum for a full 60 minutes during the Earth Hour.

In terms of the specific initiatives rolled out at each shopping centre, and which account for approximately 7-10% of each centre's marketing budget, we would highlight the monthly collaborations with charity organisations and associations such as AECC, ACNUR, Aldeas Infantiles SOS España, Doctors Without Borders, Oxfam Intermón and the Red Cross who take up space given over to them in the avenues of the malls so that they can inform the general public of their projects, fundraise and attract new members. The centres have also worked in close collaboration with a variety of local associations to collect donations of food and school and medical supplies for those affected by the war in Ukraine. In Habaneras de Torrevieja shopping centre in Alicante, a region that is home to Spain's highest Ukrainian population, the use of one of its retail units was made available for three months to help in aid of those afflicted by the plight of the war.

Local community initiatives

Castellana Properties remains firmly committed to generating a positive impact on the communities in which it operates. As such, and in line with this commitment, the Bahía Sur shopping centre (Cádiz) rolled out a number of initiatives in 2022, including the Mercadillo Solidario Canino y Felino campaign in which a veterinary service was offered free-of-charge, and the litter collection and clean-up operation undertaken in the Bay of Cadiz, in which a large number of volunteers and people working at the centre rally round to help. Last year also saw El Faro (Badajoz) welcome the Red Cross to the centre as it occupied its first-ever shopping centre retail unit free of charge. The organisation uses the unit to organise monthly focus days and workshops aimed at a variety of different social groups, also using it as a collection point each Christmas for donations of toys and food as part of the Badajoz Fire Services annual campaign.

Los Arcos (Seville) also deserves a special mention for its Orgullo de pueblo initiative designed to help foster a sense of belonging in the small towns across the region, as well as for its annual recycling initiative carried out in collaboration with Ecoembes to raise awareness of the importance of recycling. Some of its other initiatives include giving over the use of a retail unit free of charge to Seville's San Pelayo School for its traditional charity nativity scene and offering up some of its mall space for a flamenco market organised by local young entrepreneurs and brands. Last year also saw Vallsur (Valladolid) hold its Diabetes Week during which thousands of local people took part to raise awareness among young people about the importance of healthy eating. The centre's Odd Sock Day also caused a stir as the centre teamed up with the Down Valladolid association, while its Autism Day saw the centre illuminated with fabulous blue lighting and young people with autism were taken on a guided tour.

For Alfonso Brunet, CEO of Castellana Properties, "in 2022 we almost took the number of initiatives rolled out across our centres and Granaita to one hundred, representing an average growth of 4% compared to 2021. Over the coming months we will remain deeply committed to ESG initiatives for both customers and employees and their families, in line with the Company's mission statement to generate a positive impact on the regions in which we operate and help local communities where they need it most".
