Secretary for Transport & Housing Frank Chan today said Cathay Pacific Airways should take into account the Government's requests and suggestions when carrying out its corporate restructuring plan.
Meeting the media, Mr Chan outlined aspects the Cathay Group should consider.
"I have just mentioned the kind of requests or suggestions as to what the Cathay Group should take into account when they make a decision on any enterprise or corporate restructuring.
"And the reasons are to protect Hong Kong being an international aviation hub, to take good care of the welfare of their staff and minimise the impact upon them, and to maintain a core, competent group and the necessary staff force to ensure sustainable operation as well as to prepare for the future when the aviation sector is going to pick up again."
