Colombia's Celsia announced that it will inaugurate its Bolívar solar park within days as it ratchets up its renewable energy expansion. The 8MW plant will be connected to the national grid via transmission infrastructure that came online in August. Located in northern Bolívar department, the park will generate 15.5GWh a year, providing electricity to around 7,400 households. It is being developed by Celsia subsidiary Epsa and will comprise 32,000 photovoltaic modules, covering 12ha. Celsia, a unit of Grupo Argos, last year announced plans to bring online 250MW of photovoltaic solar capacity in Colombia and Central America by 2019. In September, Celsia brought online Colombia's first utility-scale solar park the 10MW Yumbo plant in Valle del Cauca department.
