Centamin plc said on August 5, 2021 it was looking for buyers for its Burkina Faso project, and reported a 39% fall in first-half pretax profit as lower production overshadowed a surge in prices. Centamin, which operates the Sukari Gold Mine in Egypt, said it was assessing strategic options, including possible sale of its non-core asset at Batie West in Burkina Faso. The miner said further that a review into its West African assets showed that Batie West project did not meet its investment criteria and that it initiated to locate potential partners or a buyer(s) for the project.
