HOUSTON (AP) _ CenterPoint Energy Inc. (CNP) on Tuesday reported first-quarter profit of $531 million.

The Houston-based company said it had profit of 82 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 47 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 48 cents per share.

The energy delivery company posted revenue of $2.76 billion in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.55 billion.

CenterPoint expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.36 to $1.38 per share.
