Our LGBT+ Network, Spectrum, is open to all our people - whether they identify as LGBT+ or they want to be an ally, supporting their colleagues and learning more about the community.

Co-chair of the network, Krisztina Sutton, tells us what it means to her to be an ally to the LGBT+ community, and the difference she's proud to help make to our culture at Centrica.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that not a lot of people know?

Though I do not play, I am a massive tennis fan. I have been to three of the four Gland Slams with only the Australian Open left to go - and I have queued up for Wimbledon more times than I am brave enough to admit!

What makes you proud to be part of the LGBT+ community?

I identify as a straight woman, but I have always been a massive advocate of the benefits of diversity and inclusion and an ally to the LGBT+ community. My very best friends are gay and I strongly relate to their issues through my personal experience, having struggled with fighting biases throughout my teens for being perceived as different from the norm.

Since I became the co-chair of Spectrum, I have been bowled over by the passion, devotion and commitment of the committee and members. I have gained so much insight into the issues our LGBT+ colleagues and the wider community are facing and I am proud of how we are collectively working to make it easier for people to bring their whole selves to work.

What has been your proudest moment working with the Spectrum network?

There have been many proud moments, including marching alongside members of the network representing Centrica and British Gas at Pride in London last year, with our special rainbow British Gas van and seven-foot inflatable Wilbur on top; organising our trans awareness event, which was broadcast to seven sites globally and promoting intersectionality by having one of our members join the panel of speakers to celebrate International Women's Day.

I am proud to contribute to shaping our wider D&I agenda, working together with the central team and other network heads on making Centrica a more inclusive place to work.
