Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC reported unaudited financial results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company reported and profit before income tax of LKR 6,033 million, and profit for the period of LKR 2,957 million or LKR 15.79 per diluted share on net revenue of LKR 8,242 million against profit before income tax of LKR 5,134 million, and profit for the period of LKR 3,050 million or LKR 16.28 per diluted share on net revenue of LKR 7,560 million for the same period of last year.

For the six months, the company reported and profit before income tax of LKR 11,533 million, and profit for the period of LKR 6,152 million or LKR 32.84 per diluted share on net revenue of LKR 15,272 million against profit before income tax of LKR 10,442 million, and profit for the period of LKR 6,106 million or LKR 32.6 per diluted share on net revenue of LKR 14,955 million for the same period of last year. Net cash from operating activities was LKR 10,712 million against LKR 8,550 million for the same period of last year. Purchase of property, plant & equipment was LKR 29 million against LKR 192 million for the same period of last year.

The company's directors recommend a first interim dividend of LKR 16.00 per share for the six months ended June 30, 2017, to be paid by August 30, 2017.
