CP Foods partners Westbridge Foods Group to restore Mangrove forest in Samut Sakhon Province

The Westbridge Foods Group volunteers led by Mr. Carl Cooper, Responsible Sourcing Manager, visited the CPF Grow-Share-Protect Mangrove Forestation Project at Bang Ya Phraek Subdistrict in Samut Sakhon Province, to learn about CP Foods' csr project of mangrove forest conservation and restoration that help increasing green areas and improving quality of life for the local communities as well as ensuring food security.

The CPF Grow-Share-Protect Mangrove Forestation Project was initiated by CP Foods in collaboration with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, and the Biodiversity-Based Economy Development Office (Public Organization), along with various local organizations and communities to increase the mangrove forest areas in strategic locations across the country.

The delegation was welcomed by staffs and management members of CP Foods who guided them through multiple activities such as cruising through Tha Chalom Bay where the mangrove restoration project is located and witnessed biodiversity-rich forest, followed by tasting local food products and beverage. At the end of the trip, the group has planted more mangrove saplings as a memento of their partnership.

Mr. Carl praised the project, saying that it is a successful multistakeholder approach to restore the environment, reduce impact of climate change, and create sustainable relationship between human and nature. Westbridge Foods and CP Foods can learn from this event and expand similar effort to other countries.

The CPF Grow-Share-Protect Mangrove Forestation Project has established in 2014 to conduct conservation and restoration of mangrove forests totaling an area of 2,388 rai in strategic areas of 5 provinces, namely Samut Sakhon, Rayong, Songkhla, Phang Nga and Chumphon. The company continued the second phase (2019-2023) covering 2,784 rai more of Mangrove Forest in Samut Sakhon, Rayong and Trat areas. The aim is to promote a better quality of life for the community, helping people to be self-reliant and live in harmony with the forest.
