STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Charter Communications Inc. (CHTR) on Friday reported first-quarter earnings of $807 million.

On a per-share basis, the Stamford, Connecticut-based company said it had net income of $4.11.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 15 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.34 per share.

The cable provider posted revenue of $12.52 billion in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Fourteen analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $12.49 billion.

Charter shares have risen slightly more than 1% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 35% in the last 12 months.
