China Power International Development Limited中 國 電 力 國 際 發 展 有 限 公 司
(incorporated in Hong Kong with limited liability)
(Stock Code: 2380) Power Generation and Electricity Sold for the Year 2016China Power International Development Limited (the "Company") announces that based on the Company's preliminary statistics, for the year ended 31 December 2016, the combined total power generation of the Company and its subsidiaries (collectively, the "Group") amounted to 63,403,445MWh, representing a decrease of 0.20% year on year while its combined total electricity sold amounted to 60,760,318MWh, representing a decrease of 0.18% year on year.
The accumulated power generation for the year 2016 as compared to the year 2015 remained approximately the same for these main reasons (1) the rainfall in 2016 was mainly concentrated in the first half of the year while in the second half of the year it was relatively low, the annual electricity generation of hydropower in 2016 was slightly lower than that of the year 2015; and (2) notwithstanding the Group had large-capacity coal-fired power generating units, new wind power plants and photovoltaic power stations put into operation last year, certain regions where our power plants are located were facing intense competition.
The respective total power generation and total electricity sold of the Group's main power generating units for the year ended 31 December 2016 are as follows:

Notes:
The second 1,000MW new coal-fired power generating units of Pingwei III commenced commercial operation in September 2015.
Yaomeng, was formerly named as Yaomeng II.
The hydropower generation in Sichuan Province continued to squeeze the space for coal-fired power generation of Fuxi in that region, resulted in the significant decline in power generation for the year 2016.
For Wan Mi Po and Gua Zhi hydropower plants, their electricity sold for the year 2016 was higher than that of their power generation because of some electricity sales rewarded by the grid corporation during the year.
Sichuan Jiu Yuan was affected by the severe flooding in the third quarter of last year and suspended its generating units for maintenance during that period. The power generation recorded a larger increase for the year 2016 because of a comparative lower base.
New power generating units that commenced commercial operation:
