Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter on February 23 for the inauguration ceremony of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School in Tanzania, which was held both in person and virtually. The leadership school was co-founded by six parties in southern Africa. Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is also chairperson of the country's ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi, attended and addressed the ceremony. South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa, also president of the country's African National Congress, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi, also leader of the Mozambique Liberation Front Party, Angolan President Joao Lourenco, also at the helm of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola, Namibian President Hage Geingob, also leader of the country's ruling party South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, also chairman of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front, sent congratulatory letters, respectively. More than 2,000 leaders of the six parties and representatives from all walks of life in Tanzania attended the ceremony.

Tanzanian President Hassan joins Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian to cut the ribbon for the inauguration of the project.

Constructed by China Railway Construction Engineering Group, the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School was established in honor of Julius Kambarage Nyerere (1922-1999), the first president of Tanzania, with an aim to cultivate senior talents for southern Africa. The school is located in Kibaha district in Coast region, covering an area of 20.5 hectares with floor space of about 18,000 square meters.
