CHINA SHENHUA ENERGY COMPANY LIMITED On August 26, Train No. 55003 slowly left the freight yard of the Inner Mongolia Branch of Railway Equipment Co., Ltd., marking the launch of the intermodal rail transport service featuring a combination of hump cars and flat cars.
The intermodal train comprised of 48 cars in a mixed combination including four STX1 multifunctional cars, four STX2 cars, 10 STX3 cars, 20 STX4 cars and 10 NX70A flat cars for containers. The goods were mainly coal chemical products such as polyethylene and polypropylene, with a total loading weight of 1,344 tons. For the first time, the mixed mode of multifunctional cars and container-specific flat cars has been adopted for trains, which can realize both the hump transport of trucks and automobile carriages and transport of special containers. Meeting different needs of shippers, this mode boasts a great competitive edge in the market.
Since the beginning of this year, the company has clarified the target market and customers of multimodal transport service, taking bulk goods as the foundation and focusing on the medium and high-end markets. By strengthening container-based transport and providing transport agents, warehousing and other value-added services, a whole-process range of logistics products for road-rail intermodal transport has been created. At present, the number of customers served by multimodal transport has increased to over 40, and categories of transported goods have exceeded 20.
