Shendong Coal Launched World's Largest 5G Mining System

As of February 20, Shendong Coal had built the world's largest enterprise-level 5G network in the mining industry, covering all of the company's mining areas in three provinces, 11 coal preparation plants and Shangwan Underground Mine. In addition, ten long-wall mining faces in other mines, four roadway development working faces and dozens of robots of three types have been allowed access to the 5G network.

Shendong Coal has been committed to innovation and strives to build intelligent mines with 5G technology. From 2019 to 2021, the company invested over 200 million yuan in the building of 5G intelligent mines, and achieved dozens of technological results at home and abroad after overcoming hundreds of technological obstacles.

So far, Shendong Coal has obtained eight national patents in the building of 5G intelligent mines, opening a path for complex underground 5G networking and intelligent applications in mining areas.

The company's intelligent mine platform based on 5G network solved problems including information collection, data transmission and remote control by integrating coal mine systems, collecting data from different systems, and realizing intelligent applications. The platform pools data from more than 200 systems such as intelligent parks, safety systems, operation systems, and underground mining, tunneling, machinery, transportation, and ventilation, and provides access to some 20,000 intelligent underground equipment.

Meanwhile, the company manages the existing wired, wireless, and core networks in a unified fashion to deploy a carrier-grade network management platform, and improves network reliability to 99.999 percent.
