The approach of bulk carriers Shenhua 522 and Shenhua 526 near Buoy No.34 along Huanghua Port channel at 10:17 on March 10 marked the beginning of two-way navigation for loaded 50,000-ton ships at Huanghua Port. It will greatly improve the utilization rate of berths and accumulate experience for two-way 70,000-ton channel which is under construction.

Huanghua Port is the main outlet for China's coal transported from west to east and from north to south, as well as the "golden channel" of integrated transportation of China Energy Investment Corporation. It has led domestic ports in coal transportation for three consecutive years, playing a vital role in contributing national secured energy supply.

With the two-way navigation channel for 50,000-ton vessels put into use, the average operating time of ships in port could be cut by nearly two hours, the port operation efficiency and coal supply capacity could be greatly improved, the passage capacity of the channel would be further released, and the berthing time of ships and the waiting time of ships would be substantially shortened, which will significantly reduce the operating costs of ports and ships.
