ChoicePoint employees volunteered their time to develop ADAM, which was then donated to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) to increase the chances of safely recovering missing children. ADAM uses fax technology to distribute missing child posters to police, news media, schools, businesses, medical centers and other recipients within a specific geographic search area, such as a state, ZIP code, area code or a combined search area near a city and ZIP code. To date, 100 children have been returned to their families.
ChoicePoint partners with nonprofit organizations who serve vulnerable populations, by offering low-cost volunteer background screening to youth-serving and other nonprofit organizations and is the preferred background screening provider for the National Human Services Assembly, Little League International, Boy Scouts of America, National CASA and thousands of other nonprofits around the country that are diligently protecting the people they serve.
A recent ChoicePoint audit of more than 3.7 million completed background screenings, found more than 189,000 individuals who had at least one criminal conviction attempted to gain employment or volunteer with a nonprofit organization.
ChoicePoint's corporate commitment to volunteerism also continues with ChoicePoint Cares volunteers who receive one day or eight hours per year in paid time off to volunteer with nonprofits of their choice. In 2007, more than 6,000 volunteer hours were donated to projects with Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, YWCA, and many others.
