with Proceeds Going to Ukrainian Relief Efforts

over 30 Cineplex locations across the country

TORONTO, ON, March 18, 2022 (TSX: CGX) - Cineplex, a leading entertainment and media company, will host special screenings of Ukrainian director Oles Sanin's 2014 feature film, The Guide, on Sunday, March 20, and Monday, March 21, 2022. In participation with other exhibitors in the entertainment industry, proceeds raised by ticket sales will go to Ukrainian relief efforts.

The Guide, which was Ukraine's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, is inspired by real-life events. An American boy, Peter, and blind musician, Ivan, are thrown together by fate amidst the 1930s Russian subjugation of Ukraine. The "Terror Famine" of the 1930s is incredibly current given the attempts of Russia to once again crush the independence and freedom of their Ukrainian neighbour. Directed by Oles Sanin, the film stars Stanislav Boklan, Jeff Burrell, Aleksandr Kobzar, Serhiy Zhadan, Anton Sviatoslav Greene, Jamala, Borys Heorhievskiy, Andriy Haddad, Oleh Prymohenov, Irina Sanina, and Veronika Shostak.
