(Alliance News) - Circle Spa announced Monday that it has been awarded, along with 21 other European partners, the eFTI4EU project with a total value of EUR28.3 million. The project for Circle is worth EUR562,500 and has a duration of 36 months

eFTI4EU will support nine European countries in implementing EU Regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight information.

Funded under the Connecting Europe Facility program for EUR28.3 million and a duration of 36 months, the eFTI4EU project brings together 22 partners from nine different member states-Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, and Portugal-and also sees participation and coordination from MIT and RAM in Italy.

The goal of eFTI4EU, the company explains in a note, "is to create a unified approach and implement a reference architecture for the exchange of logistics and transport data that will be tested through a series of case studies in all nine member states."

The eFTI regulation addresses the need to create an efficient logistics network by facilitating the digitization of freight transport through the sharing between private operators and public administrations of information in electronic format.

"This will contribute to reducing costs and increasing efficiency and sustainability of freight transport, thereby strengthening the economic growth and competitiveness of the European Union and improving the functioning of the internal market and the social and economic cohesion of all regions."

"EFTI4EU is the perfect complement to the work we have already been doing since 2021 working alongside the European Commission to develop the Electronic Transport Document Regulation, being able in this case to support nine European countries toward a harmonized approach of legislation to be validated also through several pilot projects at national and international level," comments Alexio Picco, Managing Director of Circle Group.

Circle's stock on Friday closed at a par at EUR4.86 per share.
