IT Professionals Day is a day to celebrate us ─ the fixers, the doers, the behind-the-scenes operators who ensure all networks and systems operate flawlessly! Each year on the third Tuesday of September, IT professionals around the globe should take time to pat ourselves on the back and recognize the hard (and often thankless) work we do each day to connect, secure, and automate the world around us! It's only fitting that today is the day we post our VERY FIRST Cisco Learning blog post ─ dedicated to each of you!

Thriving in a new, hybrid work world

If there's ever a time to celebrate the IT industry, it's now. The new hybrid work world required us to pivot, adapt and rise to the occasion when the world needed us most! Information technology experts like you have been critical factors to so many hospitals, transportation platforms, personal protective equipment manufacturers, government officials, pharmacies and families who depend on our secure networks each day. It would be impossible for me to itemize all the ways the IT industry has impacted this new hybrid world, but I know I am proud to be here. I'm proud to be part of the generation that transformed the IT industry into the innovative powerhouse it is today. Information Technology is home to the brightest minds, dreamers and status-quo disrupters, and I'm so excited for the future of IT!

In the spirit of celebrating, I hope you're able to take time today to celebrate your victories, invest in your future and sign up to win our IT Professional Day Giveaway drawing for a free Cisco certification exam voucher! We know you're a rock star with a superhuman technology skillset, but I'd love to tell you about Cisco certifications and how they can put you on the fast track to success.

IT skills that scale and streamline infrastructure

Today's need for automation and technical skills has never been more critical to an organization's success. It is no secret that companies are scaling and streamlining their infrastructure, which requires you ─ the technology wizards of the world ─ to stay competitive and sharpen your skills.

According to IT managers and professionals in a worldwide survey by the DevOps Institute - Upskilling: Enterprise DevOps Skills Report, 2021 - 72 percent said automation is a must-have skill, and 65 percent said technical skills are critical.

Understanding fully automated networks is part of a gradual process that requires you to learn and develop new skills. Cisco courses, like Programming for Network Engineers, can provide you with the tools to create automated solutions for your networking environment using Python. Being Cisco certified is the best way to set yourself apart and show hiring managers that you're the bee's knees.
