AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Citizens Inc. (CIA) on Wednesday reported a loss of $3.6 million in its first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Austin, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 7 cents.

The insurance company posted revenue of $55.5 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $55.2 million.

Citizens shares have stayed flat since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $5.73, a rise of 3% in the last 12 months.
