CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has launched an E-Learning Assistance Programme to donate new iPads, laptops, internet mobile WiFi hotspots and data SIM cards to 1,500 primary, secondary, and tertiary students from low-income families. The initiative aims to help youngsters with online classes and e-learning as they prepare for the new academic year.

The programme is supported by the Kowloon Region School Heads Association, the New Territories School Heads Association and the HKCT Institute of Higher Education that will help distribute the devices. CLP volunteers meanwhile organised a STEM activity day for some of the primary school pupils who benefitted from the programme, teaching them how to use their new iPads as well as giving them the chance to operate a drone and visit the CLP E-Playground to learn more about electricity and energy conservation. The youngsters were joined at the activity day by CLP Power Chief Corporate Development Officer Ms Quince Chong, CLP Power Senior Director for Information Technology Mr Andre Blumberg, Kowloon Region School Heads Association Chairperson Ms Mimi Cheung Yee-may, New Territories School Heads Association Chairperson Mr Kelvin Yau Siu-hung and HKCT Institute of Higher Education Vice President Ms Ada Li. Ms Chong said, 'Online learning has become a new normal.

This year, we support young people through the E-Learning Assistance Programme financed by the CLP Community Energy Saving Fund. The programme aims to help them study while at the same time encourage them to make good use of online educational resources.' Ms Kaur Sukhvir, whose daughter was a beneficiary of the programme said, 'My child was excited to receive a new iPad from CLP Power. It has made online classes much more convenient and enjoyable. She can use it to learn more in her free time too.'
