Teltow / Leipzig, December 08, 2021 - As part of his inauguration, His Excellency Mr. Francisco Quiroga, Ambassador of the United States of Mexico to Germany, accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the United States of Mexico in Saxony, Dr. Joachim Lamla, as well as Oliver Contla, Head of the Economic Section of the Mexican Embassy and Florentino Cabrera, Head of the Tourism Promotion Section, visited the city of Leipzig and BIO CITY. Here they gained insight into various companies represented at the site, including CO.DON AG.

Mr. Bur, a member of the company's board of directors, introduced the company and, during a guided tour, provided insight into the production facility for manufacturing the EU-approved drug. The politicians were impressed by the innovative process and the production laboratories of CO.DON AG.

The CO.DON AG Executive Board sees great potential for the innovative therapy options in North America as well, within the framework of the company's licensing activities outside Europe. Mexico is the most important and most diversified industrial location in the American economic area after the USA. Bauerfeind AG, an anchor investor of CO.DON AG, has already been successfully active here for several years.

CO.DON AG develops, produces and distributes autologous cell therapies for the minimally invasive repair of cartilage defects. The product being marketed is a cell therapy product for the minimally invasive treatment of cartilage damage in the knee joint that uses only the patient's own cartilage cells ("autologous chondrocytes"). CO.DON's method is currently used in over 200 clinics in Germany and more than 16,000 patients have already been treated. In July 2017 CO.DON AG received central EU marketing authorisation for this product, followed by the marketing authorization for Switzerland in March 2019. At the Leipzig site, CO.DON has built one of the largest facilities for the production of human cells on an industrial scale for in-house and contract manufacturing. The shares in CO.DON AG are listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ISIN: DE000A3E5C08). Executive Board: Tilmann Bur, Dr Achim Simons.
