On the 20th of June, The first 30 of new purchased 10tonne bins have been delivered. These bins have been put into service.

The new bins are fitted with automatic couplings as compared to the link and pin system currently used. Over time Tully Sugar will investigate converting the entire fleet to the new coupling system, removing the need for people to enter the space between bins. This reduces a significant safety risk and can assist to improve through put. The new bins will improve on time delivery of bins to support the harvester sector. The new bins also have a lighter tare weight which results in reduced fuel consumption when hauling them both when full and empty. Purchasing these extra bins will reduce the maintenance cost of the bin fleet by replacing 2x4 tonne older style steel chassis units, assist to increase the cane delivery rate,  reduce mill lost time and will reduce the risk of equipment failure.

These additions are part of upgrading the fleet to a level necessary to meet the future production requirements.
