Cogna Educação S.A. announced earnings results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2020. For the fourth quarter, the company announced total revenue was BRL 1,494.458 million compared to BRL 1,768.137 million a year ago. Net loss was BRL 4,019.941 million compared to BRL 168.583 million a year ago. For the full year, total revenue was BRL 5,269.144 million compared to BRL 6,355.187 million a year ago. Net loss was BRL 5,805.835 million compared to net income of BRL 235.244 million a year ago.
Cogna Educacao SA, formerly Kroton Educacional SA, is a Brazil-based company active in the private education sector. The Company focuses on developing primary and secondary schools, post-secondary and undergraduate programs, as well as vocational courses. The Company's activities are divided into three business segments: In-class higher education, which offers port-secondary programs on campus; Distance learning higher education (EAD), which provides port-secondary programs via online platform, and Basic education, which includes own and managed primary schools, collection and development of teaching materials, school management advisory, as well as educational support tools, among others. The Company operates a number of brand names, such as Anhanguera, Fama, Pitagoras, Unic, Unime and Unopar.
