Colruyt Group acquires the Belgian fitness chain JIMS

On 30 April 2021, Colruyt Group acquired 100% of the shares of the fitness chain JIMS. JIMS is a major player in the Belgian fitness market and wants to motivate as many people as possible to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. In addition to traditional fitness centre services and group exercise classes, JIMS also provides digital coaching. This acquisition fits with Colruyt Group's ambition to respond to the consumer's needs in the different stages of his life cycle and to further the group's continuous investments in health.

JIMS: physical fitness coach, also online

The Belgian fitness chain JIMS operates 27 clubs in larger cities in Belgium and Luxembourg and is also active online. The company's mission is to encourage consumers to adopt a fitter, healthier and more active lifestyle.

The JIMS fitness clubs offer customers strength training or conditioning exercises and a variety of group exercise classes at attractive prices. JIMS' online offer includes live group sessions and digital coaching. Enthusiastic and well-trained staff members provide the customers with guidance and inspiration to help them get in shape. Club members can also hire personal coaches who are affiliated with the clubs.

Promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle

Colruyt Group wants to help consumers to make sustainable and well-informed choices step by step, also in the area of health. Good health is a top priority and a good physical condition and well-balanced nutrition play an important role in this. By acquiring JIMS, Colruyt Group wants to offer consumers a solution to achieving a well-balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Colruyt Group's efforts in the field of health are already quite wide-ranging. Colruyt Group already informs and helps consumers to choose balanced nutrition by, for example, making the Nutri-Score available, providing personalised nutritional advice and coaching through the SmartWithFood app, improving the nutritional composition of private-label products and offering Colruyt Group Academy workshops. The acquisition of JIMS is a further step in the group's investments in health.

The transaction

On 30 April 2021, Colruyt Group acquired 100% of the shares of JIMS. The management remains in place and will further support the growth of the company. The transaction will have no material impact on Colruyt Group's net result of financial year 2021/22.

Both parties have agreed not to disclose any details regarding the price or any other terms of the transaction. Arm's length principles were applied for the valuation.

The Belgian fitness chain JIMS was established in 2009 and in the meantime comprises 24 fitness clubs in Belgium and 3 in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
